Textures of Autumn

Welcome to our Autumn exhibition, Textures of Autumn, which is our last exhibition of the year and finishes on the 24th December.  

This exhibition of course focuses on the rich colour palette that nature creates throughout this season. Our painters are Abstract artist Lucy Rogers Smith, based on the Fylde coast, and Astrig Akseralian, based in Somerset, Frome who has a more narrative approach to her work.  We have also asked Melanie Keevil, Birmingham based potter who has created beautiful abstract ceramic wall panels. All three of these artists are using a strong vivid colour palette of rich purples, pinks and ochres that consistently flow from one piece to the next throughout this exhibition. 

We also wanted to showcase wall work in a different medium and are delighted to be showcasing the work of Adele Taylor and Muriel Witkin. Muriel forms metal masks out of copper and Adele carefully chases into the copper to create landscape forms. They have both used natural patinas to create natural colour variations in metal.  

Our three dimensional work also includes woodworker Solace in Wood, who very cleverly intricately carves out wood to create unusual shapes inside his vessels. Ceramics by Elly Wall who also carves into the clay to create detailed effects and Hannah Sulek. Finally we have asked five new jewellers to exhibit in our final exhibition, Hannah Souter, Adele Taylor, Penny Warren, Donna Barry and Deelyn.

Each year we like to finish the year with our favourite exhibition, so we hope you enjoy this one as much as we have loved curating this one.
