Scatering The Corn

This body of work by new artist to the gallery Astrig Akseralian explore’s a narrative quality throughout her paintings we are currently exhibiting.

They often incorporate figures and animals. She works on wooden panels, which allows her to be spontaneous and free with her mark making.  The wooden panels can be rubbed back scraped and also sanded back creating interesting surface pattern between each layer.

Astrig’s colour palette can at first be seen as soft, due to the pastel tonal qualities, but the strength of these colours combined  makes each painting lively. This combined with the fun composition creates the perfect balance.
