Sea Study

An absolutely stunning painting by Scarborough based artist Lindsey Tyson. This is the first time we have represented Lindseys work in the gallery. Her approach to painting is very expressive combining textural collages mixed with a modern technique of applying  cold wax. At first glance when you observe Lindsey work you see a dark spectrum of  colours, inky blues, charcoal greys, black and soft turquoises. Then when you get closer to her work you start to see mark making where she has carved back into the surface. After she has carved into the surface she often applies a strong vivid contrasting colour like orange usually in a circular form. This expressive mark pulls you in to then start seeing other patterns and collages like clouds.

Her work would like great in any space especially her small pieces either displayed as a group or individually in an intimate corner of your home.
