Sue love’s collecting all the coloured leaves of all colours but she Particularly like’s pink leaves. So she made this leaf-wide cuff in tribute to them. she collected pinks, soft yellows, and toffee colours and used them in fades to celebrate the leaves she was looking at. This cuff is a one-off as it is impossible to exactly replicate the colours.
She collect’s, dries, and presses the leaves then heat’s the acrylic and presses the leaves into the surface. She use’s them as a stencil to apply the colours, which give her botanical jewellery a contemporary feel. The Elm leaves is then peeled off to reveal the design. This is a method of dying and embossing plastic she developed herself. Sue call’s it ‘fossilized plastic’ due to the fine details, like fossils, that are captured on the embossed surface. She was particularly pleased by the detail of the veins of the leaves and how thy have come out. She hope’s that the wearer will not only enjoy them as jewellery but also review their appreciation of the natural world.
This cuff looks great on and can really brighten up and outfit, it can also be worn with the matching earrings.
