ABOUT EMILY

Emily established Studio Vault in 2015. Her background is originally Jewellery, which she studied at the prestigious Glasgow School Of Art but her passion of opening a gallery stems right back to her childhood. Her parents David Knight and Margaret Uttley are both painters and collected studio pottery. Emily has strong memories of her family home been full of interesting objects found at ceramic fairs or in art galleries. Due to this up bringing the feeling and meaning of ‘home’ for Emily, is being surrounded by handcrafted items and this is the main reason as to why she decided to open Studio Vault.

Emily’s passion for exhibiting a considered yet eclectic range of contemporary and traditional crafts plays a key role, into the running of Studio Vault. She changes the space around every three months to introduce new artists and craftspeople to encourage a flavour of new vibrancy as well as hopefully achieving a cohesive feel. The gallery has also worked with some of our jewellers from the very first day of opening like Ellie Air and Cathy Sutherland and now Ciara Bowles and Ellen Monaghan have become gallery jewellers that we work with on a regularly basis.

WHAT WE AIM TO ACHIEVE

We strive to offer a range of events throughout the year, allowing us to connect the artists with our clients. This may be in one of our meet the maker event’s where you can discuss remodelling inherited jewellery to give that family heirloom a new lease of life or even design your very own bespoke engagement ring with the help of our experienced team.

Emily is passionate about selling products that have all been recycled or ethically sourced. We feel it’s a key element about purchasing handcrafted items, for the client to leave the gallery knowing the history behind how something has been made. This is then linked up with our extensive workshop programme were you can attend one of our workshops, and have a go at making your very own piece of jewellery.

We have a strong ethos in striving to offer a personalised experience each time somebody visits our bricks and mortar store or an enquiry comes in online. Whether this is just purchasing a card or enquiring about a one to one appointment regarding our bespoke jewellery service.
