Learn how to set a marquee stone and texturise bands with Rebecca Burt

Join us on this special one day workshop with Welsh Jewellery Designer Rebecca Burt. Rebecca is visiting the gallery to do a meet the maker event On Saturday and then will be teaching this special one day workshop on Sunday.

We will be creating a very unique ring stack incorporating three bands, each band will be totally unique and one will incorporate a marquee stone.

We will be focusing on setting a marquee semi precious stone, and both Emily and Rebecca will guide you through the processes of using fine silver to create that perfect bezel setting, for this unique shaped stone.

Once we have created our settings we will then explore a series of texturising techniques. Rebecca will demonstrate different ways she applies organic textures to the metal by using hammers, punches and other specialised tools you may not of considered using within your jewellery practice. We will also learn how to create texture by melting gold solder onto the silver to create a two tone silver and gold effect.

You will go away with three silver rings, two textured and one with a marquee stone.

This workshop is ideal for beginners and intermediate jewellers as marquee settings are slightly more challenging.
