Drop Casting Workshop with Laura Ngyou, Two Days New

We are delighted to be welcoming Laura Ngyou for the very first time to the gallery. She will be doing one of our meet the maker events and then teaching this two day workshop.

We will be learning a new jewellery technique that Laura uses within her work called drop casting. We will learn how to transform scrap silver and gold into beautiful one of a kind jewellery whilst experimenting with various kinds of drop casting techniques. We will be drop casting molten metal into common household items such as lentils, chickpeas, ice and water to create intriguing abstract forms.

Select from an array of rough and polished gemstones (or bring your own) to set within cast elements and make a piece of jewellery of your choice.

What’s Included 

Two lunches and all materials. More information will be sent out about this workshop a week before via email.

Capability 

Anyone can take part in this workshop but having a strong understanding of soldering is advised.
