Kinetic Pendant Jewellery Workshop with Ruth Laird
We are really excited to be offering this new workshop with Jeweller’s Ruth Laird and Emily Knight. Over this one day workshop we will be focusing on creating a piece of jewellery that incorporates movement.
We will create a pendant and focus on learning how to create sliding elements and also hinges in silver.
The workshop will start with Ruth Laird showing us a selection of her work that incorporates moving elements. We will then start drawing angular shapes and create paper models of our designs. Once you are happy with the two elements you have designed we will then talk to you about how we can add kinetic movement to your unique designs.
Before we start adding the moving elements we will saw pierce out our own unique shapes and texturise these using stamps and hammers. Once you are happy with the two elements Emily and Ruth we will then do two demonstrations. One how to create a silver hinge and the second tube riveting.
