Create a Sculptural Cocktail Ring with Ellen Monaghan and explore technical drawing techniques with Emily Knight (NEW)
This workshop bridges traditional stone setting techniques combined with contemporary wire work. You will learn how to set a large semi precious stone of your choice in a traditional push over setting in either fine silver bezel sheet or at an additional cost 18ct yellow gold bezel sheet. We will then spend some time gathering natural inspirations found at Bentham golf club and observe these objects by producing a series of drawings which will eventually inspire your very own angular shaped ring. We will draw in a mix media way using water colour pencils, graphite, gouache and copper wire and explore technical jewellery drawing techniques.
Once you have found a design you like we will then transfer this into square silver wire using scoring a folding techniques which will incorporate your bezel set stone. This will then be finished to a high standard, as we will be spending some time exploring different polishing a matt techniques.
You will learn a range of skills over two weekends and walk away with your own designed statement ring as well as a series of drawings.
This workshop is limited to eight people to allow greater tutor input all lunch and materials will be provided.
