Learn The Traditional Jewellery Technique Keum-boo with Ruth Laird

We are really excited to offer this new workshop with talented Jeweller Ruth Laird. Over this one day workshop we will be focusing on the traditional Japanese technique Kuem-boo which is the application of Gold leaf onto silver.

We will create either a pair of earrings or a pendant of your choice. The design will either incorporate patterns in silver either by using the rolling mill which will allow you to imprint lace or leaves onto your sheet of silver or by exploring hand engraving techniques where you can apply your own hand drawn designs onto silver.

At the end of the workshop we will then apply textures of gold leaf onto your patterned silver panels.

This workshops is tailored around all capabilities and beginners will also learn basic jewellery skills like soldering and how to make simple jewellery finding’s like jump rings and earring hooks as well as necklace catches.

All Materials and lunch is included in this one day workshop.
