Tara Joy

We are really pleased to be welcoming Tara Joy’s work into the gallery for our spring reflections theme this spring. Tara designs and creates botanical plaster cast’s in her home studio based in Ilkley. She uses flowers and foliage found from her walks around Ilkley Moor and the countryside which inspire her and allow for unique pieces of art to be made. 

Tara originally trained as a textile designer and now combines her love of botanical print using plaster and clay mediums. 

Tara creates the unique casts by placing picked foliage and flowers onto a rolled-out slab of clay, which she then presses into the clay to capture nature’s fine details. She then uses Farrow and Ball paint to define and add colour to her plaster and clay casts.
