Emily Stracey
Emily hand makes stoneware fired ceramic figurines, colourful textiles and accompanying illustrations. In between juggling children, cats, not sleeping, dust, washing, teaching and building sandcastles she works in her garden studio in sunny Bournemouth, closely guarded by her two tabbies Jazzy and Jeff.
Following a foundation course in art and a craft degree, Emily Stracey’s work has developed to offer an entertaining and original insight into the lives of animals seen as characters in their own right. Her work is strongly influenced by her lively imagination and enjoyment of the ridiculous in everyday life.
She exhibits her individual pieces in galleries across the country but now some of her humorous designs can be enjoyed through a characterful range of licensed products.
Launching in 2016, her first licensed collection featuring charming portraits of cats based on original ceramics and illustrations by the artist will cover collectable figurines and housewares.
