Create a Papier Mache Christmas Decoration with Joanna Coupland
We are really pleased to running our first ever Christmas workshop with York based artist Joanna Coupland.
Her Christmas creation’s are an instant winner in the gallery, and if you are also a fan please consider doing this workshop as it is a lot of fun.
You can either create hanging Christmas decorations for the tree or freestanding birds.
Throughout this one day workshop we will be learning a range of techniques with Joanna in our Christmas Grotto.
You will start by drawing with wire to create a three dimensional structure of your Christmas decoration, using pliers and your fingers to shape a strong structure.
Just before lunch we will then start applying tissue paper over our wire frames by covering these with paper mache. Once we have done this we will stop for a 45 minute lunch break.
We will then spend the afternoon painting our decorations, and applying Christmas themed embellishments like tinsel, glitter and ribbons.
At the end of this workshop you will go away with a finished decoration to add a bit of festive spirit into your home, as well as an insight into the way this talented artist works.

You will receive a reminder email from Emily the week before this workshop starts which will include more information about the course.
