SUMMARY:Learn How To Melt Gold and Gypsy Set a Diamond – with Rachel Jones NEW
DESCRIPTION:This is a new workshop for 2023 which we are really exited to be hosting. It is a very special workshop with one of our gallery fine jewellers, Rachel Jones.\nWe will be learning the process of alchemy by alloying our own gold by melting grains of yellow gold, which will then be created into a disk.\nThis process is fascinating to watch and learn and the perfect way to melt down your scrap metal.\nIn the afternoon we will then be learning a traditional stone setting technique (Gypsy Setting) which is classed as one of the many ways of setting a stone flush into metal.\nRachel will teach us how to create a gypsy setting using different types of burrs on a pendant drill.  We will start by creating our first gypsy setting in copper using CZ stones. Once we have mastered this technique we will then create a gypsy style setting in the gold disk that we created in the morning. We will be setting 3mm white diamonds into the gold disk to create a timeless contemporary pendant.\nLunch and all materials are included in this workshop.\nThis is a workshop based on learning an intermediate jewellery technique.\nIf you have very little jewellery experience please email emily@studiovault.co.uk so she can advise you if this workshop might be too challenging for you.\n
