SUMMARY:Create a botanical Inspired necklace and explore experimental drawing with Susan Macleod – Two Days
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to be welcoming London based jeweller Susan Macleod into the gallery. She is doing one of our popular meet the maker events, and has decided to stay up for two days longer to teach a jam packed designing and making jewellery workshop.\nGet an insight into how Susan creates her beautiful botanical inspired jewellery collection.\nYou will start the workshop on Sunday by exploring printing and drawing techniques.\nWe will be exploring loose mono printing techniques, while observing a bouquet of flowers and seed heads. We will then collage your prints together by using embroidery techniques and also taking images from magazines and fabrics. You will go away with a series of ten prints and two collages.\nFrom the work you have produced on the first day, we will then start picking out shapes from your prints and start drawing these in wire and loosely saw pierce out your very own botanical forms, in silver and copper.  We will then start using steel punches, hammering, reticulating the metal and the rolling mill to create your very own unique textures onto the metal.\nThe final stages will be looking at joining each element together to create a pendant/ necklace of your choice. The techniques we will be exploring at this stage are a daisy chain style fitting, jump rings and riveting. Then we will be exploring finishing techniques like; polishing, white baking the metal and even adding a section of gold plating.\nThis workshop will be a fun very intensive course and is ideal for anyone who is wanting to be expressive within their designing process and see how this can be turned into your very own unique piece of jewellery.\nOpen to beginners and advanced jewellers.\n \n
